The presentation event was the culmination of our Abbey College Cambridge venture project, where our GCSE Business Studies students are challenged to create and run their own businesses. The presentation event took place at Cambridge University’s Sydney Sussex College, and was organised by former Abbey College Cambridge student Guanpeng Lu, who is now studying Natural Sciences there. It was also a great opportunity for many of our students to experience one of the University’s most prestigious colleges.
The Enactus Society is a global community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better more sustainable world. They listened to a number of presentations from our students in which they outlined the challenges they faced and overcame in creating their businesses, which sold a range of imported and homemade products. The venture challenge provides a great opportunity for our students to use their skills in a practical environment, and also to develop other vital skills such as teamwork, presentation and entrepreneurship. The students also made a considerable profit from their enterprises!
Business Studies tutor Andy Humphris , who helped organise the event added: “I could not be more proud of our students. The calibre of their presentations and the conduct which they displayed throughout the process was fantastic, they are models of excellence one and all. They displayed superb business acumen and every student developed their confidence in business and presentation skills.’
