Scholarships for Local Students
Abbey College Cambridge offers a number of scholarships to local students for entry to the college at Year 9 and Year 12.
For entry at 13+ (into Year 9) awards of up to 100% will be awarded to students who stand out on our assessment day.
Scholarships for entry into Year 12 are generally worth up to 20% discount from tuition fees and the amount awarded is dependent upon performance at our Scholarship Assessment.
The number and value of the awards made each year depend on the quality of the candidates. Scholarships are available to all local applicants applying to join the school. All candidates wishing to be considered for a scholarship must have already submitted an application form to join the school before making an application for a scholarship.
Assessment for scholarships for both Year 9 and Year 12 will be made at our scholarship assessment day on Thursday 29th January 2026. Scholarships applicants must attend the scholarship day to be considered for an award.
For Year 9, all applicants will spend the assessment day together and will be asked to complete various tasks, sit a Maths and English paper, and sit an interview with the college Principal and academic panel. Students will also be asked to answer an essay question before the scholarship day for consideration on the day. The assessment day is designed to be an enriching and enjoyable day that allows the students to get to know the college, and allows us to get to know our potential students better.
Scholarships are awarded in recognition of:
- Academic ability
- Teamwork
- Critical thinking
- Contribution to society
For Year 12, all applicants will assessed in two of the subjects they wish to study at A Level, sit an interview with the Principal and Vice Principal Academic and take part in a teamwork task. Again they will be asked to spend the day at Abbey College Cambridge on 29th January 2026.
How to apply
Our scholarship assessment day is on Thursday 29th January 2026. The deadline for scholarship applications is Friday 9th January 2026. Any applications received after this date will not be considered.
To apply, students must have applied for a place at the school and need to complete the schoarship entry form below.

These scholarships are only available to students who havehatty.reilly@abbeydld.co.uk a UK passport/leave to remain in the UK and live within the local Cambridge area.
International students wishing to be considered for a scholarship should apply via the International Admissions Team.
