Our History

Since our foundation in 1994, Abbey College Cambridge has quickly become one of the top-perfroming, non-selective independent schools in the UK.

At Abbey College Cambridge, we have developed and maintained an outstanding record of academic success. Our students’ exceptional A Level pass rates mean that we have been consistently placed at the top of independent school league tables.

Our school community has grown significantly during this time and we now have 400 students from over 40 countries who are taught and supported by more than 100 members of staff.

During this growth our educational ethos has remained very clear: outstanding achievement for all. Our educational offering has changed since 1994, from being initially designed for A Level retaking students to now being a Year 9, GCSE, International Foundation Programme, and A Level school specialising in meeting the needs of international and local students.

In July 2016 we moved to a single-site, purpose-built campus. Our new school campus has been designed by the staff of Abbey College Cambridge to perfectly fit the needs of our students.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary in November 2019 with food from around the world, a student and staff-led concert, and a spectacular firework display.

Abbey College Cambridge is a member of the Abbey DLD Group of Colleges and a member of the Heads’ Conference and the Boarding Schools’ Association.
