Our History

Since our foundation in 1994 Abbey College Cambridge has become one of the best sixth-form colleges for international students in the UK

At Abbey College Cambridge, we have developed and maintained an outstanding record of academic success. Our students’ exceptional A Level pass rates mean that we have been consistently placed at the top of college league tables since 1997.

Our college community has grown significantly during this time and we now have 400 students from over 40 countries who are taught and supported by more than 100 members of staff.

During this growth our educational ethos has remained very clear: outstanding achievement for all. Our educational offering has changed since 1994, from being initially designed for A Level retaking students to now being a GCSE, International Foundation Programme, and A Level college specialising in meeting the needs of international students.

In July 2016 we undertook a new stage in our development by moving to a single-site, purpose-built campus. Our new college campus has been designed by the staff of Abbey College Cambridge to perfectly fit the needs of our students.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary in November 2019 with food from around the world, a student and staff-led concert, and a spectacular firework display.

Abbey College Cambridge is a constituent college of the Abbey DLD Group of Colleges.
