John Morgan

“Science fiction has come true, so all that time reading Philip K. Dick and William Gibson turns out to have been of serious educational importance. Alongside films such as Terminator 2, these works long ago anticipated the extraordinary possibilities of AI as well as warning us about the great dangers. It is now my responsibility to make sure our students and staff have the best possible experience in this world of thinking machines, while also helping them strengthen the traditional critical thinking skills that matter more than ever. Surely, this is the coolest job in education?”

John studied History and Philosophy of Science and then became an English language teacher, working in Spain, Italy, Sardinia, and the Basque Country. He joined Abbey College Cambridge in 2014 as an IELTS specialist. When not reading about linguistics or the philosophy of mind, you may find him playing guitar or bass in his jazz band.
