Abbey College Cambridge International Foundation Programme News

Abbey College Cambridge’s International Foundation Programme students are celebrating another year of outstanding results and top university destinations. This year’s overall average mark of 70% represented a 1% increase on last year’s 69% overall average. These results, coupled with the high quality of our programme teaching and established reputation amongst UK institutions means that even more of our Foundation Programme graduates have been able to secure places at some of the country’s best universities.

Highlights across our three Foundation Pathways included:

Results in Business Management and Economics increased by 3% on last year. A quarter of students received offers from City University of London’s prestigious CASS Business School. There was also an excellent success rate with top ranked Russell Group universities including Durham, Birmingham, King’s College London, Exeter, Warwick and Manchester accepting our students across a range of undergraduate business programmes. The University of Surrey also continues to make a large number of offers (11) to our Business students, and one of our students even secured an interview for Economics at Harvard!

The Russell Group’s validation of and respect for the international Foundation Programme Engineering Pathway continued, with Birmingham, Bristol and King’s College London all making offers to our strong cohort of Engineering students, one third of whom scored above 84% overall.

An astonishing 100% of our Science and Pharmacy students received offers to study Biomedical Science at King’s College London. Whether all will choose this prestigious university remains to be seen! With the reformation of the programme to appeal directly to MBBS International Medicine programmes for 2018/19, we are very excited to see where we go next year with a course that increased overall performance by 5% this year.

International Foundation Programme Course Leader Andrew Humphris was justifiably proud of these results and praised the efforts of everyone involved in the success; ‘It’s a testament to our incredibly committed students and their teachers that our Foundation Programme continues to go from strength to strength each year. The academic rigour and high degree of intellectual challenges present in our one year programme is recognised by the best UK universities and this year’s students have once again made it to some fantastic destinations. We wish them the best of luck.’
