Sports Day 2026: Records Broken and Champions Crowned

13th May 26

Abbey College Cambridge’s Sports Day 2026 brought the entire school community together for a full day of competition, teamwork, and house spirit. From energetic morning activities to an exciting afternoon of track and field events, students from every year group took part, representing their houses with pride and enthusiasm.

The day began with tutor group fun, where students worked collaboratively in teams to test a range of skills beyond traditional athletics. Events included challenges such as archery, axe throws, running in sumo suits, and coordination-based games, all designed to reward teamwork and communication! With tutor groups competing head-to-head, the morning created a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere, setting the tone for the rest of the day.

In the afternoon, attention turned to the track and field events, where individual performance and house pride took centre stage. From explosive sprints and endurance races to field events showcasing strength and technique, the competition was fierce. Spectators cheered on every race and jump, as students (and a few staff members!) pushed themselves to achieve personal bests – and in several cases, rewrite the school record books.

Overall Results

After a full day of competition, the final standings saw:

  • Overall Champions: Minerva

  • Track & Field Champions: Hera
