Abbey College Cambridge is celebrating after once again being named as one of the UK’s elite independent schools in the best schools awards.

The college was identified by best schools as one of the UK’s top five private sixth form colleges, and one of the 10 best UK co-ed boarding schools.

Mary Muryama who visited Abbey College Cambridge on the 11th March to present the awards to College Principal Dr Julian Davies commented: ‘Today is quite special in visiting Abbey College Cambridge to present them with crystal awards to mark their position in two of our top 10 league tables. They came 8th in our co-ed boarding A-Level table with more than 70% of students achieving A* or A grades in 2019. These outstanding results also make them one of the top 5 private sixth form colleges in the UK.

We are delighted to present these wards, and also to have a  number of students studying at the college this year. As well as being attracted by the consistently excellent results achieved by Abbey College Cambridge students, our families are always very impressed by the excellent location and facilities as well as the professional and caring support and teaching staff.’

Speaking about the awards, College Principal Dr Julian Davies was justifiable proud; ‘It’s wonderful to receive these awards from our friends at best schools, they reflect the outstanding academic achievement of Abbey College Cambridge students, and all that hard work that goes into them, both from the students themselves, our teachers and dedicated support staff.’

The best school awards follow on from the college being named in the top 30 secondary schools in the UK in the latest Telegraph league table, and as the 7th best college in the UK for academic progression by the UK Government.
