Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award Success

15th June 22

Abbey College Cambridge prides itself on the number of clubs and activities available for students.  A very popular club is the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award Scheme.  This is where 14-24 year-olds can do an activity programme at one of three progressive levels which, when successfully completed, leads to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

There are four sections to complete at Bronze and Silver level, and five at Gold. They involve helping the community/environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition and, for Gold only, working as a team on a residential activity.

This year 17 students have been working towards and successfully achieved their Silver Award.  Many congratulations to: Livia, Chen-Yen, Gadea, Lena, Sabina, Ethan Garlon, Yashi Yaya, Mansur, Zay Ya Phone, Yanbo Raymond, Tsz Ching Charlie, Anlan, Yi Evelyn, Zihan Alex, Yujie Jennifer, Zhixian Jason and Yuewen

As part of the award, the students went on a 3 day camping expedition. Students worked within a group for 3 days expertly navigating themselves around the beautiful Peak District. Every day each group planned their own schedule, meals and routes to travel. A substantial amount of preparation had gone into this by the students to ensure they were able to complete this successfully. Well done everyone.
